Physiotherapy

Our Physiotherapy team is here to help you to be your best self. Let us facilitate your recovery by helping you relieve pain, recuperate from an injury, improve your quality of life and maintain and healthy, fit body.

We also treat injuries arising from sport, work and motor vehicle accidents and postural problems. We will use a number of techniques to aid in your recovery, including joint mobilisation, dry needling, massage, postural correction, ergonomic advice, taping and home-exercise programs. Not only do we treat the adult population, but adolescents and children too!

Exercise Therapy

In our modern Studio, we treat and rehabilitate from injury, pain and dysfunction. Our Physiotherapy team will provide individualised Exercise Therapy sessions to help you rehabilitate.

  • Exercise Therapy:
    You may choose from either: Private 1:1 or semi-private 1:2/1:3 sessions. Private one-on-one sessions are ideal for clients who are new to Exercise Therapy, or prefer extra guidance and feedback. Our 1:2 and 1:3 sessions are semi-private, meaning the attention and guidance from the Physiotherapist will be shared between 2-3 clients. These sessions are still individualised, and allow for personalised feedback.
    Each patient is assessed and treated according to their injury and needs, performing clinical exercises specially designed for each individual.

  • Pre-natal:
    Semi-private (1:2 or 1:3) or private (1:1) sessions that are exercise and education based for our expectant mums with our Women’s Health Physiotherapist. Learn about the changes happening to your body, exercise in a safe setting, and prepare your body for labour. Each woman is assessed and treated according to their needs, performing clinical exercises specially designed for each individual. Suitable for all trimesters of pregnancy.

  • Post-natal:
    Our Post-natal Exercise Therapy 1:3 sessions are instructed by our Women’s Health Physiotherapist to assist you in your recovery post child birth with your bub by your side. Post-natal Pilates is excellent post birth rehabilitation, helping to improve pelvic floor muscle strength and also working on any aches and pains you may have. If you suffer from Continence Issues, Bladder and Bowel Concerns, Pelvic Organ Prolapse and Abdominal Separation post birth, contact our friendly reception staff to book a confidential consultation.

Reformer + Aerial Pilates

Our incredible new boutique Reformer and Aerial Pilates Studio is now open! Offering intimate Reformer and Aerial Pilates classes with no more than 6 participants per class, ensuring personalised attention in each and every class.

Why Pilates?

Pilates is a fantastic form of exercise to rehabilitate, strengthen and shape your body, but also complements other exercise types and sports. Initially developed by Joseph Pilates during World War 1, this method of exercise has been refined over many years. Pilates uses alignment, concentration, control, breathing and flowing movements to give an overall body workout.

The Embody Pilates Difference

Our studio is purpose built to be a calming and welcoming space in which clients can relax and revive in. Our class are capped to a maximum of 6 participants per class, ensuring an individualised experience where you are nurtured through your practise by our highly qualified and friendly instructors.

Class Descriptions

Intro Reformer Pilates

Our Intro Reformer Classes are perfect for those who are new to Pilates, the Reformer or those coming back to Pilates and looking to revisit the principle foundations of Pilates once again. We will take you through the basic reformer exercises and get you acquainted with the equipment. This is a slower paced class which will help to work on form and familiarity with the exercises used. No previous Pilates experience necessary.

Basic Control Reformer Pilates

Basic Control Reformer Pilates will teach you the fundamental exercises in the traditional Pilates repertoire. These classes will focus on utilizing breath with controlled & isolated movement and mental focus, this class will allow you to connect with muscles you never knew you had! An alignment & control based class, designed to challenge you to rediscover your posture, and find balance and stability, as you strengthen your body in new ways. This class will move at a gentle pace to focus on functional movement and prepare you with a strong foundation and increased body awareness. The challenge of this class is in the slow and controlled movement; expect to be challenged by the basics. This class is open to all levels.

Dynamic Reformer Pilates

Dynamic Reformer Pilates classes are designed for students who have a working knowledge of the Pilates fundamentals and who want to step up their workout. This class will elevate your expectations of strength and endurance while challenging your muscles and your mind. This workout will challenge your balance, stability, core and endurance. A total body workout, creatively utilizing the Reformer with a variety of props including, hand weights, fitness circle and resistance bands to challenge you in unique ways each and every class. Expect to sweat and work as hard as you wish in this intermediate level class.

Aerial Pilates

This class is designed to gently introduce you to the Aerial Silk and the range of moves that can be achieved, with a strong focus on stretching, joint rotation, mobility and spinal decompression. During this fun class, we will run through some of the foundational techniques and poses to enable you to feel comfortable, safe and confident with the placement and movement of the Aerial Silk. This class is open to all levels. All of our instructors are trained to ensure you work at your own level and within your own limitations.

Women’s Health

At Embody we treat women across their lifespan, from young adulthood, pregnancy, the post-natal period, menopause and beyond.

Lauren is our Physiotherapist with postgraduate training in this area, and she specifically treats conditions that are relevant to a woman’s continence, pelvic health and lactation.
